We’re big fans of our friend Lolo (Lauren Reskin, co-founder of Sweat Records) and everything she’s done for the Miami music scene. After DJ’ing college radio, booking shows, and promoting local club nights for years, in 2005, she started Sweat Records, her own record store and music promotion company. She’s certainly got the pedigree for it: her grandmother was a concert violinist, her grandfather opened the Allegro Music House, her dad is a Juilliard graduate, and her great uncle is Alan Freed, the radio DJ who coined the term “rock and roll.”
We’ve been lucky to have her as our music consultant from the start—you can thank her for curating the tunes we play around the property—and we highly recommend checking out her shows and store. She and her quirky, committed team at Sweat work hard to book top-notch talent and sell awesome vinyls, CDs, cassettes, books, t-shirts, jewelry, and more. Find out about their upcoming shows on their events page or via Twitter. Browse their wares at SweatShop, or stop by their brick-and-mortar store (get directions).
